WHY
DO ENTERPRISES USE THE TEST
BARRIER
TO REJECT SO MANY APPLICANTS WHEN THEY ARE SELECTING PEOPLE FOR JOBS AND
TRAINING POSITIONS?
The
short answer is that there are not enough jobs or
training positions for all the people who apply for them.
This is an aspect of what is called the
'ECONOMIC PROBLEM':
there are not enough resources to satisfy all who want them.
Enterprises
have to be seen to be FAIR in selecting employees and trainees.
Giving applicants equal access to TESTS seems a fair method
of selection.
Enterprises
themselves are interested in making sure that they get the BEST PEOPLE
- intelligent, willing and able to learn - so that money is not wasted in
the training process. Tests
have been devised by organisations like the Human Sciences Research
Council (HSRC) to select applicants for employment and training positions.
