WHAT PROCEDURES DO FIRMS USE FOR THE SELECTION OF APPLICANTS FOR TRAINING?

The usual procedures which firms use for the selection of applicants are as follows:

1.       PRE-SELECTION

Applicants are chosen according to criteria set by the firm.  These typically include:

Minimum and maximum age limits.

Minimum school or technical college
certificate passes for certain subjects.

 2.      TESTING

Candidates spend a day at a venue chosen by   the company and there they do a battery of tests.  This is the part of the selection process where most candidates are eliminated.

3.      INTERVIEWS

Applicants who have performed well in the tests are interviewed by:

  Human Resources employees

  Training officers

  Technical team leaders

  Foremen

 4.      FINAL SELECTION

The lucky few are informed that they have been successful and are told what arrangements are to be made for their training.
